AN ODD WORLD

Image
I'm not initially sure how I feel about these pictures- they are slightly yellow- but this is an outfit I wore a couple of days ago. A maxi skirt and a top- simple! The top is a printed t-shirt- one of my only ones from Zara. The leather jacket and the bag is COW Vintage. My colourful bag (LOVE IT) is also Vintage and from COW.  If you look closely at this picture you can see my left foot slightly rolls inwards. This is my main problem with footwear and this is generally why I wear my Docs all the time. I was not doing much walking on this particular day so I braved these flat shoes from Tesco. Hope your all ready for the weekend- have a good one. Lauren x

SEARCHING

The first really cold day so I decided to wear a scarf and coat. Its weird because the photos look like its really hot because of the sun, but I promise you it was freezing! This outfit must be one of my most casual ones. I'm back at uni soon and this is definitely a student look. I'm finding it difficult to find a job that will accommodate my needs i.e let me sit down rather than standing all day- which is something I can't do being hemplegic and unable to stand for very long. My jean's,  jumper and scarf are from Topshop, the coat is from Jane Norman, brought years ago and my shoes are Birkenstocks. Lauren x

DON'T LOOK PASSED ME

I love love love this choker that I got for my birthday from Regal Rose- its just amazing. It adds a gothic feel to the look, which I love. My jumper is Topshop- which I stole from my sister's closet. She's in China for her uni placement year so I have access to 60% of her clothes. Oh yeah! My lipstick is Mac- I love to buy bold lipsticks they're just the best! And my hat Topshop of course! The purple dress is from Monsoon, I put a jumper over because on this particular day it was freezing. (its suddenly turning into Winter). Lauren x

HEMIPLEGIA

Image
I am hoping to talk a lot more about my disability in further posts, first I'm going to start with my condition - Hemiplegia. Many people are probably unaware of this and what it entails. I was born premature and almost died, I had to have open heart surgery to keep me alive. Hemiplegia is a condition that affects half of your body and is caused by parts of the brain being damaged. The most obvious effects of my condition is my foot, I limp and throughout childhood had to wear a splint and specialised footwear. I want to raise awareness of my condition, growing up was hard and I always stood out. I could never wear the latest fashions like my sister i.e flimsy footwear such as flip flops were a big no no! However, I want to show people that a disability is not a hindrance and you can still look and feel good with it! I love fashion and love dressing up - I refuse to let my disability stop this! Instead I have had to find ways of dressing to accommodate this. I am going to sha

EDINBURGH PART I

So I've been in Edinburgh for about a week now and its going well! I though I'd update you on my recent experiences up North! So first the venue, we are in the Space @ Venue45 - just off the Royal Mile.  I am acting in a play called 'Forty Five Minutes' written by Anya Reiss. It is about a group of sixth formers who suddenly realise the deadline for UCAS is in 45 minutes and they are no where near finishing it! I play the character Lara. Here is a link to see the full synopsis, reviews and all the information on the show:  https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/forty-five-minutes . Here are a few snaps of me in action! As you can see I am one of the only characters that is sitting, due to my hemiplegia I find it difficult to stand for too long, as this is 45 minutes I would not have been able to cope, but we managed to find a way around that by giving a seat centre stage! Personally, I think I got the better deal!  And of cou
